Last February I met a stranger on a bus who invited me to the Summit Church. That same night I heard about a summer discipleship project called City Project The main mission of Summit College is to make disciples who make disciples. This was done when someone invited my (now) friend, who then invited me, and now I have encouraged others to do City Project or other missions.

Through City Project God answered so many prayers including giving me Christian community and teaching me how to serve Him locally, nationally, and internationally. I learned the importance of sharing the gospel with the nations (Matthew 28:19). I want to thank everyone who supported me last summer, and invite you all to support me in a new summer mission, Second City.

Matthew 28:19

Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,

Yesterday I participated in the Kick Off for Go Now Summer Initiatives through Summit College at the Summit Church. I will be living in South Asia for two months to share the gospel with unreached people groups and collaborate with field partners at church plants. You can read more about how to support me here. I want to share a little more about what we discussed and learned at the kick off.  Continue reading

Prayer for Interviews

The Go Now initiative season is upon us. Last week was the application deadline for Summit College’s Go Now summer short term mission programs . However, this date has been extended, so you should definitely apply!  This year, I applied for Second City. This is a two month missional experience where I will apply what I learned in City Project last summer.

This afternoon I have my interview for Second City. I will sit down with some of the Summit College staff to discuss my testimony, qualities that would help be successful in a 2 month program, and the grace of the gospel. This week, other applicants of Second City will also have their interviews.

Please be praying for all the college students who have interviews in the following weeks. Please pray that more students would say, “I am here! Send me!”Also, please be praying for the locations we are sending people this summer! Pray that God will prepare hearts to hear the gospel and believe! This will happen if we believe God will do as He promises!

Isaiah 6:8

And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” Then I said, “Here I am! Send me.”

We are all called to the mission field, in fact, it is a command. Matthew 4:19 says, “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.” When you are following Jesus, He will give you what you need to be a fisher of men, a disciple maker. We are all part of the great commission to go out and tell others about our Savior. Please be praying that more students (and adults) will come to understand their calling to make disciples who make disciples.

Thank you to all my supporters! You are my brothers and sisters in Christ, and I thank you for all you have done to support me through prayer and physical needs. In the last year you all have become my team, and I am so blessed that God brought us together for the purpose of His mission! I am looking forward to another year of serving along side you.

In Christ,

Alexis Chastain
